Differences of 10 components in 3 types of compounds from different parts of Valeriana jatamansi Jones based on HPLC and chemometrics
Objective To determine the content of 10 components in 3 types of compounds, including phenolic acids(neochlorogenic acid, chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid, isochlorogenic acid B,isochlorogenic acid A,and isochlorogenic acid C),flavonoids(hesperidin and linarin),and valerian triglycerides(valepotriate and acevaltrate)from different parts of Valeriana jatamansi, and compare the content differences by combining chemical pattern recognition. Methods The content of 10 components in the aboveground parts(leaves)and underground parts(rhizomes and roots)of Valeriana jatamansi was detected by HPLC.Hierarchical clustering analysis, principal component analysis and orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis were conducted. Results The average content order of 10 components in the aboveground part were as follows:chlorogenic acid>isochlorogenic acid A>linarin>valepotriate>hesperidin>isochlorogenic acid C>acevaltrate>isochlorogenic acid B>neochlorogenic acid>caffeic acid, while the average content of 10 components in the underground part were valepotriate>isochlorogenic acid A>hesperidin>chlorogenic acid>acevaltrate>isochlorogenic acid C>isochlorogenic acid B>linarin>neochlorogenic acid>caffeic acid. The content of both phenolic acids and flavonoids in the different parts of Valeriana jatamansi were aboveground part>underground part, and the content of valerian triglycerides was underground part>aboveground part. The markers that caused differences included valepotriate, linarin, and hesperidin. Conclusion There are obvious differences in the content of 10 components in different parts of Valeriana jatamansi. The non-medicinal parts of Valeriana jatamansi also contain a large amount of phenolic acids, flavonoids, and valepotriates, which may be utilized.
