Gastrodin was first isolated from the rhizome of Gastrodia elata Bl,while currently it is used in clinical practice for central nervous system-related diseases.Modern pharmacological studies have shown that gastrodin has many effects,such as protecting the nerve cells and their function,regulating blood vessels,anti-inflammation,and anti-tumor effect,and regulating bone metabolism.Clinical studies have proved that gastrodin is effective for mental disorders,epilepsy,migraine,cerebral infarction,vertigo and other diseases.Gastrodin has the characteristics of multi-target and multi-pathway.This article reviewed the pharmacological effects and clinical applications of gastrodin in recent years to provide reference for the development of gastrodin related therapeutic drugs.
