Determination and preliminary risk assessment of 4 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in Gardeniae Fructus Praeparatus
Objective To determine the content of 4 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)in Gardeniae Fructus Praeparatus, and to assess the risks by single-factor pollution index and comprehensive pollution index. Methods The content of 4 PAHs including benzo(α)anthracene, fen, benzo(b)fluoranthene and benzo(α)pyrene in Gardeniae Fructus Praeparatus was determined by high performance liquid phase-fluorescence detection method. Moreover, the risks were assessed with single factor pollution index(Pi)and comprehensive pollution index(PJ.Results The 4 PAHs had a good linear relationship with the correlation coefficient r ≥ 0.999,the recoveries ranged from 75.82%to 81.83%,and the RSDs were all less than 2.5%.The risk assessment showed that the contamination level of benzo(α)anthracene, benzo(b)fluoranthene and fen in Gardeniae Fructus Praeparatus was similar and larger, much higher than that of benzo(α)pyrene. At the same time, the comprehensive pollution index Pz>1 accounted for 69.57%,indicating that the 4 PAHs were more seriously polluted. The pollution risk of PAHs in Gardeniae Fructus Praeparatus should be attentioned. Conclusion This method can be used to determine the content and assess the risk of 4 PAHs in Gardeniae Fructus Praeparatus. The level of PAHs should be monitored to ensure the safety of medication use.
