Individualized antithrombotic therapy for a child suffering from fulminant myocarditis with arterial thrombosis secondary to extracorporeal membrane oxygenation combined with continuous renal replacement therapy
This article reported a case of catheter-related lower extremity arterial thrombosis in a child suffering from fulminant myocarditis treated with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation(ECMO)and continuous renal replacement therapy(CRRT).Clinical pharmacists developed individualized antithrombotic therapy based on literatures and evidences, and conducted pharmaceutical monitoring. The child had a good outcome. There is not enough lack of large-scale studies on anticoagulation therapy with ECMO in children, and lacks authoritative guidelines.Clinical pharmacists should be familiar with the characteristics of antithrombotic drugs, assist physicians to establish individualized treatment plans, and improve the effectiveness and safety of clinical drugs.
