Community Archaeology in Mass Media and Public Opinion:From the Perspective of Rights and Discourse
The article discusses community archaeological issues related to rights and discourse in today's Chinese mass media and public opinion through case studies. It can be seen that although there is indeed a binary structure of"the public"being strong and"the private"being weak in the context of community archaeology, mass media and public opinion can still catalyze the communities'awareness of the rights related to archaeological cultural heritages. On the other hand, even though the official discourse still predominates in the interpretation of archaeological cultural heritages in the context of mass media and public opinion, issues such as identity construction and postmodern deconstruction caused by potential misunderstandings and differences in communities'interpretation still demonstrate the discourse power initiative that exists in community archaeology.Through the above discussion, the article aims to glimpse at and emphasize the political attributes of rights and discourse related to community archaeology and public archaeology.
