Investigation and Preliminary Research of Yundingcheng Site in Jintang County
Yundingcheng Site in Jintang County,recognized as one of the"Eight Pillars in Sichuan",holds a significant place among the Song and Yuan mountain fortified city sites in the Sichuan-Chongqing region.Since 2021,the Jintang County Government has collaborated with the Chengdu Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology to conduct a comprehensive field investigation of Yundingcheng Site.This systematic exploration has delineated the preservation status of the mountain fortified city sites and unearthed the remains of high-status structures dating back to the Song and Yuan dynasties.Based on recent research endeavors,this paper meticulously examines Yundingcheng Site's geographical positioning,the existing body of research and the archaeological remains within the city.By integrating historical documention,the research delves into the historical context of Yundingcheng Site,revealing its defensive attributes and heritage value.These insights will help researchers better understand the basic condition of Yundingcheng Site and offer academic support for its protection,interpretation and utilization.
