Effect of Zhenqi granules on weaning stress in piglets
This study utilized a weaning piglet model to investigate the effects of a compound veterinary medicine,Zhenqi granules,on the growth, diarrhea incidence, and weaning stress of weaning piglets.Initially, the growth performance, occurrence of diarrhea, and morphology of the ileal villi in the piglets were observed, and levels of growth and stress hormones were measured. It was observed that the 21-day weaning had a greater effect on body weight, diarrhea rate, and intestinal damage compared to the 28-day weaning. This suggests that weaning at 21 days imposes a more significant weaning stress on piglets.Subsequently,we utilized a 21-day-old weaning piglet model to compare the administration of Zhenqi granules with the untreated group. It showed that Zhenqi granules could significantly reduce the rate of diarrhea and shortened the duration of the diarrhea. The level of growth hormone(GH)in serum of Zhenqi granules-treated group was significantly higher than those untreated(P<0.01)at 43 days old, while cortisol level was significantly lower at 27 days old(P<0.05).In this study,it is demonstrated that Zhenqi granules can alleviate diarrhea, improve anti-stress,and promote growth in piglet.
