Shengjiang Xiexin Tang is derived from ZHANG Zhongjing's Treatise on Febrile Diseases in the Han Dynasty. It includes eight traditional Chinese medicines:Fresh Ginger(Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens),Ginger(Zingiberis Rhizoma),Rhizoma Pinelliae,Radix Scutellariae,Radix Ginseng,Rhizoma Coptidis, baked Radix Glycyrrhizae and common Jujube(Jujubae Fructus). The whole prescription is combined with cold and heat, pungent and bitter, attack and tonify,Yin and Yang are adjusted simultaneously, and the medicine of regulating Qi is not used, but it has the effect of Qi-regulating.It is widely used, especially in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. The author used the addition and subtraction of this prescription to treat a sick cat with intermittent vomiting and unformed stool in nearly three months, and the application of antibiotics, inhibition of vomiting and other western veterinary drugs was difficult to work.According to the diagnosis of Chinese veterinarian, the sick cat was diagnosed as a long-term disease with spleen and stomach weakness, stomach loss and descending, turbidity and Qi returning to the upper, and cold and heat mixed. The syndrome differentiation was water and heat mutual knot and spleen Yang deficiency. The therapeutic principle is to harmonize stomach and lower adverse Qi,disperse water and Qi,strengthen spleen and replenish Qi.Therefore,Shengjiang Xiexin Tang was adopted adding Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae and Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae,to disperse water and eliminate swelling, harmonize stomach and lower adverse Qi,and strengthen spleen. After taking Chinese medicine for the first day,no vomiting was observed, the stool was basically formed, the appetite and spirit were significantly improved, and the sick cats were basically cured after taking Chinese medicine for 3 days. This case can provide new ideas for the clinical treatment of long-term vomiting cases in pets, and provide reference for the scientific research and clinical application of Shengjiang Xiexin Tang in pets.
