The antibacterial activity of 21 plant essential oils on Microsporum gypsum in vitro
In order to study the antibacterial activity of plant essential oils against Microsporum gypseum in vitro,21 plant essential oils with strong action against Microsporum gypseum were screened by coating plate method.21 plant essential oils showed inhibitory effects on the growth of Microsporum gypseum, among which cinnamon essential oil, oregano essential oil had the strongest effect with the minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)of 12.50 μg/mL,followed by peppermint essential oil and limonene with MIC of 25.00 μg/mL.Further tests showed that the combination of 6 essential oils could inhibit the growth of Microsporum gypseum.Considering the different oil efficacy and actual use,6.25 μg/mL cinnamon essential oil+6.25 μg/mL oregano essential oil could be selected as the treatment of skin infection caused by Microsporum gypseum.
