Sound Source Localization Method for Belt Conveyor Idler Faults
To realize real-time monitoring of belt conveyor idler faults,a sound source localization method for idler faults based on a generalized cross-correlation time-delay estimation algorithm was proposed, and a related system was developed.Firstly, through the sound sensor installed at a certain distance next to the belt conveyor, the sound signal was collected, and the VMD and envelope spectrum kurtosis method was used to effectively extract the sound information of the idler fault. Then, the generalized cross-correlation time delay of the selected IMF components of the sound signal was estimated using related algorithm, and the time delay was determined by the time difference corresponding to the maximum cross-correlation coefficient in the time delay domain.According to the propagation speed of sound in the air medium and the spatial geometric relationship between the fault sound source position and the acoustic sensor, the fault sound source position was determined. Finally,a sound source localization system for idler faults was developed and put into field operation. The experiment and field application results show that the proposed method and system can accurately locate idler fault sound sources.
