Design of Building Facade Sound Barriers for School Adjacent to Highway
Traditional sound barriers are often visually obtrusive and monotonous in noise reduction renovations, which make them difficult to blend into the surrounding environment. Therefore,it is essential to integrate architectural forms and landscape requirements when designing sound barriers to achieve a certain aesthetic form. With a primary and secondary school near an express way in Guangzhou as an example, the indoor and outdoor sound environment status is measured and analyzed on-site.The SoundPLAN software is utilized to simulate the current sound environment.Three facade sound barriers are designed based on the requirements of noise reduction and building facade form, and their acoustic performance is evaluated using Odeon Combined software. Results show that the designed sound barriers can effectively alleviate the environmental sound in classrooms. When the door and windows all open, the noise reduction effects of different barriers are in the range of 5-9 dB(A),and the improvement effect of Speech Transmission Index(STI)is in the range of 0.09-0.15.
