Application of Tooth Profile Modification for Gear Meshing Noise Reduction in Gearboxes
In order to solve the issue of whining noise generated by loaded gears during the meshing process in gear-boxes,a one-dimensional vibration model of gear pair meshing was established utilizing Newton's law of motion. The tooth tip and root of the gear were modified without altering the gear's basic parameters.A comparative analysis of various tooth profile modification schemes was conducted, and the effect of tooth profile modification on gear strength and performance parameters was calculated. The K-tooth diagram of gear tooth profile detection was drawn according to the amount and length of the tooth modification as well as the profile form deviation. The effectiveness of the proposed solution was evaluat-ed through a gearbox bench test, which demonstrates a significant reduction of the gear meshing noise. This improvement in the gear whine phenomenon can be attributed to the modified gear tooth profile.Overall, the results of the study indicate that tooth profile modification is an effective approach to reducing gear meshing noise in gearbox applications.
