Research progress in identification methods and criteria for quarantine moths
As most quarantine moth species are small in size, challenging to observe morphologically, and morphologically similar to other moth pests, their identification poses difficulties, often leading to an increased risk of their spread. The larvae of this pest feed on fruits, wood, degrading their quality and seriously affecting their import and export trade. Moreover, the spread of quarantine pests poses a great threat to agriculture and forestry production. Therefore, precise identification of moth pests has become a global concern. In this review, the species of quarantine moths in China were systematically summa-rized;research progress in identification technology and criteria was reviewed, and existing problems and shortcomings were analyzed.Meanwhile, the future development direction was proposed based on technological innovation and actual quarantine needs at ports. The aim is to provide references for the research and development of new, precise identification technology for quarantine moths,as well as strategies for invasion prevention and control.
