Evaluation of resistance to stripe rust and analysis of Yr resistance genes of 88 wheat backup lines in Sichuan Province
In order to identify the resistance levels of wheat lines in Sichuan Province to stripe rust pathogen Puccinia striiformis f.sp.tritici,88 newly developed wheat lines were evaluated at seeding stage by using two prevalent races CYR32 and CYR34.Meanwhile,the panel of wheat lines were de-tected with functional markers or closely linked molecular markers of the resistance genes Yr5,Yr9,Yr 10,Yr15,Yr17,Yr18 and Yr26.The results showed that 85 wheat lines(96.59%)were resistant to the race CYR32 and 86 lines(97.73%)were resistant to CYR34 at seedling stage.Chuanmai 815 and Ch-uanmai 809 were susceptible to both CYR32 and CYR34.Among the 85 Sichuan backup wheat lines carrying resistance genes,35 lines carried Yr5,four lines with Yr9,one line with Yrl0,50 lines with Yr15,50 lines with Yr 17,one line with Yr 18,and 36 lines with Yr26.The seven stripe rust resistance genes was not detected in wheat lines Chuanmai 815,Shunnuomai 2284 and Shumai 2255.The analysis of resistance gene pyramiding showed that 66 wheat lines carried two or more resistance genes,indicat-ing that the proportion of backup wheat lines was higher in Sichuan Province using resistance gene pyra-miding breeding.
