Khitan was one of the nomadic tribes of the northern steppe in ancient China.They established the Liao Dynasty(907-1125)regime,the title of which fluctuated between"Great Liao"or"Great Khi-tan",and even matched the Northern Song regime with"Northern China"and"Southern China".The Khitan people and the regime they established had an important impact on ancient Chinese history and even world history.The Khitan-Liao culture,as one of the northern minority cultures in ancient China,plays an important role in the formation of the integrative pattern of the multi-cultures of the Chinese na-tion with its characteristics and humanistic and historical significance.
