Northwest Situation in Early Years of Kangxi and the Response of the Qing Court:Centering around the Invasion of the Border by Baatar Erkhe Jinong
The war by Vchirtu Chechen Khan and Chukhur Ubashi against Galdan ended in failure in 1676(the fifteenth year of the Kangxi).The remnants of their subordinates,namely Baatar Erkhe Jinong,fled to the Qing border and repeatedly looted people and livestock on the Qing borderland,causing a tense atmosphere on the side of Qing Court.This paper makes an in-depth analysis into the historical process in which Emperor Kangxi adopted multiple strategies and measures with great patience to cope with the border crisis and in the end successfully maintain the regional stability in the northwest frontier.
