Transmedia Narrative of the Legend of Wang Zhaojun:Focusing on the Legend of Wang Zhaojun in Inner Mongolia
In the context of the contemporary media landscape,cross-media narrative research on folklore can facilitate the transformation of folklore resources. The legend of Wang Zhaojun,which is widely disseminated in Inner Mongolia,is centred on the narratives of Wang Zhaojun on her journey to and subsequent departure from the embassy. These narratives reflect the admiration of the grassland people for Zhaojun and the glorifi-cation of ethnic friendship and unity. The article begins by examining the transformation of the text through the lens of media evolution. It traces the evolution of the image of Wang Zhaojun from the historical record to oral transmission,from oral transmission to classical writing,from classical writing to audiovisual transmission,and from audiovisual transmission to electronic media transmission. This analysis reveals the underlying ideology of peace and harmony in the legend of Wang Zhaojun and the spiritual value of promoting interaction and ex-change between ethnic groups.
