Study on Linguistic landscape in Countries Along the Belt and Road——A Case Study of Mongolia
At present,as a popular research field in semiotics,applied linguistics and sociolinguistics,linguistic landscape has been widely studied by experts and scholars in related fields. The analysis and investigation of the regional language landscape provide a new perspective for the study of language signs and urban language phenomenon in public places. This paper investigates the urban language landscape of Ulaanbaatar,the capital of Mongolia,reviews the history of Mongolian language practice,and mathematically analyzes the use of multi-ple language resources and code combinations in Mongolia. Through fieldwork,taking official and private signs,posters and other language landscapes as research objects,this paper reveals the language landscape,sociolin-guistic background of Mongolia and the characteristics of its urban language landscape. It has found that Cyril-lic enjoys a dominant position,in addition to foreign languages such as Russian,Chinese,Japanese and Kore-an. English is the preferred foreign language that appears most frequently in signs in this region. Therefore,in Mongolian urban language landscape,the form of language combination presents a diversified phenomenon,and there is a large difference between various types of signs.
