Research on the Shape of Jade Carving Dragon in Hongshan Culture——the Influence of "Dragon" in Traditional Culture
Hongshan culture is an important archaeological culture in the late Neolithic Age of China. Its jade dragon carving has unique shape and exquisite craftsmanship,which reflects the wisdom and creativity of Hongshan ancestors. By analyzing the time and region distribution,shape characteristics and typical examples of jade carving dragons in Hongshan culture,this paper investigates the important influence of dragon image in Hongshan culture and even Chinese traditional culture. Hongshan jade carving is represented by C-shaped jade dragon,jade pig dragon and bird dragon. The jade quality is mostly dark green Xiuyan jade with exquisite craftsmanship,which sustenance the aesthetic taste and cultural psychology of the ancestors. The article also pointed out that the dragon,as the spiritual totem of the Chinese nation,has been inseparable from traditional Chinese culture since ancient times,and has profoundly affected the development of material culture and spiri-tual culture. The discovery of Hongshan Jade carving dragon provides clues for the study of the origin and de-velopment of dragon culture,highlighting the long and splendid Chinese civilization with dragon as its totem.
