On the Balance between Values Diplomacy and Practical Interests:A Case Study of the European Union
Values diplomacy is an important form and means of diplomacy in the international political arena. In recent years,with the change of the international political pattern,the diplomatic phenomenon characterized by values has frequently appeared in international exchanges. The EU is the group of countries with the high-est degree of regional integration,and its performance and influence on the international stage are increasingly attracting attention. Values diplomacy has a significant feature in the EU's external relations,and the EU's pursuit of upholding and promoting its core values in a wide range of world relations also highlights the u-nique characteristics of the EU as an actor. At present,the international political power balance is being re-structured,which coincides with the major changes in a century,and the relationship between foreign policy influence,values and practical interests has attracted more and more academic attention and discussion. This paper attempts to take the value diplomacy of the European Union as a typical case to discuss the relationship between foreign value goals and realistic interests,and deeply analyze the essence of value diplomacy.
