On the Common Characteristic of the Romance Novels of Saneatsu MushanoKōji——Taking "Omedetaki Hito" "YūJō" and "Ai To Shi" as Examples
Saneatsu MushanoKōji is a renowned Japanese novelist,playwright and the leading figure of the "Shirakaba Ha". He is also a practitioner of the"Shinmura" movement,which advocates utopian ideals and love for humanity. Throughout his life,he created numerous literary works that prominently reflect the "Shirakaba Ha" 's creative philosophy,emphasizing opposition to war,rejection of constraints,pursuit of individual libera-tion and the promotion of humanitarian values. Saneatsu MushanoKōji also authored several romance novels,with "Omedetaki Hito","YūJō" and "Ai To Shi"serving as concrete reflections of his views on love. Exam-ining his romance novels reveals significant features in narrative structure,character design and storyline. This article takes the representative works as examples to illustrate common aspects of his romance novels from the perspectives of "the role setting of the female protagonist" "love stories concluding tragically" and "unyielding traits of the male protagonist".
