The physical and mental health of modern people is threatened by problems such as population congestion, the fast pace of life brought on by high-speed urbanization. There are many leftover spaces in high-density urban areas that have not been paid much attention to.Researching into the restorative environmental factors of leftover space will play a positive role in enhancing urban spatial carrying capacity and improving the physical and mental health of urban residents. This paper focuses on the community leftover space which is closely related to people's life in urban environments, taking Yonglin District 2 of Suzhou City as the research object.Four main categories of restorative environmental factors are summarized based on grounded theory and questionnaire survey of the state, including environmental characteristics, functional use, perception of place, and behavioral experience. Then, the conceptual model of environmental factors is established, and optimal design strategies for different types of community leftover spaces are put forward, which provide inspiration and reference for improving the restorative benefits of community leftover environments and the quality of human life.
