Analysis on Construction of Yu Yam Ancestral Garden from Yuanye
Yuanye is a gardening treasure of classical Chinese garden architecture and the first heirloom monograph of gardening.The purpose of this study is to analyze the creation of Yu Yam Ancestral Garden from Yuanye,and to study the gardening techniques of Yu Yam Ancestral Garden,one of the four famous gardens in Lingnan,a classical garden by analyzing the three aspects of the Yu Yam Ancestral Garden in Yuanye:the building,the mountain,and the borrowed landscape.The research methodology includes literature analysis and field study.Through detailed discussion of the layout of Yu Yam Ancestral Garden,the creation of the house,the landscape and the borrowed landscape,the spatial layout of following the curves and combining the squares,the creation of the hill chosen for its shape,and the borrowed landscape with the meaning of pragmatism and reclusiveness are summarized.The results of the study show that Yuanye had a profound influence on the creation of the Yu Yam Ancestral Garden,demonstrating the unique architectural style and cultural connotation of Lingnan gardens.This paper further supplements the research on the application of Yuanye in Chinese gardens.However,there is still a need for further exploration into the inherent correlation between Yuanye and Lingnan gardens.
