Adaptive Place-making of Regenerative Cafes Shaped by Social Media:A Case Study of Changsha
Social media have influenced consumer behavior and redefined the"space production"of independent cafes, allowing them to expand into various urban micro-sites and support urban revitalization. This study analyzes the typical regenerative cafes in Changsha using architectural analysis and typology comparison to investigate their architectural morphological characteristics and strategies for adaptation in various urban settings.Research shows that regenerative cafes in contemporary cities, where social media and physical store are closely connected, exhibit versatility, robust social engagement,architectural-urban fusion, and community-focused experiences. The research highlights how the combination of non-daily landscapes influenced by social media in cafe, along with the everyday landscapes of communities, not only forms distinctive public spaces but also promotes the development of tourism destinations for new groups. This highlights their potential as instruments for integrating micro urban sites, which can have an advantageous impact on the sustainable progress of micro-urban regeneration.
