This article takes Zhongshan avenue as the research object,and summarizes the evolution mechanism and characteristics of Hankou's urban development through the development process of the street and the current status of historical and cultural resources.Firstly,this study traces the origin of the predecessor of Zhongshan avenue,Hankou castle,restores the Tongji gate and city walls of Hankou castle,and sorts out the evolution process of the street from Hankou castle to Zhongshan avenue.Secondly,this study examines the changes in urban landscape around the Hankou water tower,and compares and analyzes the changes in the landscape of roads and buildings along Zhongshan avenue.Finally,this study conducts a temporal and spatial investigation on the construction time of Hankou castle and Zhongshan avenue,as well as the location relationship between Zhongshan avenue and Yudai river.Zhongshan avenue is rich in historical and cultural resources.The evolution from Hankou castle to Zhongshan avenue is not only a change in name,but also a transformation in function from flood control dams to transportation and tourism.It witnesses the earth shattering changes in the urban landscape of Hankou and provides an inexhaustible driving force to ensure and promote its development.
