Combined with the previous literature and field survey information,this paper takes the research of the ancient city wall of Lingling as the starting point to explore the historical process of the ancient city of Lingling and the development context of the traditional rammed earth wall.Then,some of the remaining ancient city walls were compared and analyzed,and the regional characteristics,construction paradigms,and technological evolution of traditional rammed earth walls in China were explored.Finally,the historical,cultural,and epochal values of the rammed earth ancient city wall are discussed,the specific problems faced by the protection of the rammed earth ancient city wall site are further discussed,and feasible solutions are proposed.
