Thinking on Renewal of Historic Districts based on Pedestrian Traffic Analysis:Taking Scenic Bridge Architecture in Fenghuang Ancient City as an Example
The activities and interactions of people in space can only be achieved through transportation, and thus shape the meaning of appearance. The Fenghuang Ancient City in Xiangxi, built along the Tuojiang River, has a long history and strong cultural characteristics. However, due to changes of the times and the development of tourism, the historical streets and alleys of the ancient city also face problems such as lengthy transportation routes, obstructed landscape views, and insufficient space experience.Taking the Fenghuang Ancient City"Rain,Snow,Wind, and Mist"Scenic Bridge Project as an example, this study uses pedestrian traffic simulation analysis methods to analyze the role of transportation in the relationship between people and space from the aspects of accessibility, visibility, and sensibility.Furthermore,it explores the method of promoting sustainable renewal of historical blocks through the"path-scenery-environment"relationship.
