The article selects Rugao academy,the most representative traditional Chinese academy in east China,as an example to analyze its overall spatial planning,spatial combination methods,and local architectural features in a vertical manner.It also compares Rugao academy with similar academies in a horizontal manner to summarize its unique features.This helps to clarify the architectural space features and value of Rugao academy,and also reveals the similarities and differences between it and other traditional academy buildings in terms of architectural space design and floor plan layout.By analyzing the architectural space of traditional academies in east China,we can gain a more intuitive understanding of their architectural form features,and also provide directional guidance for improving the planning and design of academy buildings in the future.
