Objective To explore the correlation between the levels of interleukin-6 receptor mRNA (IL-6R mRNA) in peripheral blood of patients with bipolar disorder and their subjective and objective sleep conditions. Methods By using the case-control study,25 cases of bipolar disorder patients diagnosed by psychiatric clinic of the Seventh People's Hospital of Shaoxing City from June 2022 to June 2023 were selected case group,25 volunteers with outpatient health examination without mental illness were selected as control group.Pittsburgh sleep quality index scale (PSQI) and polysomnography (PSG) were used to evaluate the sleep quality of two groups, and respectively analyzed the correlation with the IL-6R mRNA levels of case group. Results In case group, the peripheral blood IL-6R mRNA was positively correlated with sleep quality, time to fall asleep, sleep time, sleep efficiency, sleep disorder, use of hypnotic drugs, daytime function and PSQI total score (P<0.05),and total sleep time, sleep efficiency, time of deep sleep, rapid eye movement sleep time were negatively associated (P<0.01),and the peripheral blood IL-6R mRNA was positively associated with awakening time of patients (P<0.05).Conclusion The level of IL-6R mRNA in monocytes in peripheral blood of patients with bipolar disorder significantly increases, and is closely related to the decrease in subjective and objective sleep quality of patients.
