Effect of Epalrestat Combined with Mecobalamin on Type 2 Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy
Objective:To explore the clinical effect of Epalrestat combined with Mecobalamin in the treatment of type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy.Method:A total of 94 patients with type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy admitted to the Guizhou Medical University Affiliated Baiyun Hospital from December 2020 to December 2022 were selected as the study objects, and they were divided into two groups according to random number table method, with 47 patients in each group. The control group was treated with Mecobalamin, and the observation group was treated with Epalrestat combined with Mecobalamin for 4 weeks. The clinical efficacy, nerve conduction velocity, clinical symptoms and signs, oxidative stress index and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Result:The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Before treatment, there were no significant differences in nerve conduction velocity, clinical symptoms and signs, and oxidative stress indexes between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment, the motor nerve conduction velocity(MCV)and sensory nerve conduction velocity(SCV)of median nerve and common peroneal nerve in observation group were higher than those in control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, the Toronto clinical scoring system(TCSS)scores of both groups were lower than those before treatment, and that in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, superoxide dismutase(SOD)and reduced glutathione(GSH)in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and malondialdehyde(MDA)was lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The total incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 12.77%,which was higher than 8.51%in the control group, the difference was not statistically significant(字2=0.448,P=0.504).Conclusion:Epalrestat combined with Mecobalamin is effective in the treatment of type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy, which can increase nerve conduction speed, reduce oxidative stress and clinical symptoms, and is safe and reliable.
