Analysis of the Therapeutic Effect of Nd:YAG Laser Combined with FM-SRP on Chronic Periodontitis
Objective:To investigate the efficacy of neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet(Nd:YAG)laser combined with full-mouth scaling and root planing(FM-SRP)in the treatment of chronic periodontitis.Method:A total of 82 patients with chronic periodontitis admitted to the Stomatology Department of Xianning Central Hospital from May 2021 to April 2023 were selected as the study objects.They were randomly divided into control group(n=41)and observation group(n=41).The control group was treated with FM-SRP,the observation group was treated with Nd:YAG laser combined with FM-SRP.The clinical efficacy,clinical indicators of periodontium before treatment and 1 month after treatment,pain conditions before treatment and after 1 d,3 d,7 d of treatment,gingival crevicular fluid indexes before treatment and 1 month after treatment of the two groups was compared.Result:The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(95.12%vs 80.49%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).One month after treatment,gingival bleeding index,periodontal probing depth,clinical attachment loss distance and plaque index of both groups were decreased,and gingival bleeding index,periodontal probing depth,clinical attachment loss distance and plaque index of the observation group were lower than those of the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After 1 d,3 d and 7 d of treatment,the visual analogue scale(VAS)scores of both groups was decreased,and after 1 d and 3 d of treatment,the VAS score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).One month after treatment,interleukin-1β(IL-1β),intercellular cell adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1),matrix metalloproteinase-13(MMP-13)in both group were decreased,and the levels of IL-1β,ICAM-1 and MMP-13 in observation group were lower than those in control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Compared with FM-SRP alone,Nd:YAG laser combined with FM-SRP has better clinical effect on chronic periodontitis,which can effectively improve periodontal clinical indicators,reduce patients'pain and reduce the level of inflammatory factors in gingival crevicular fluid.
