Comparison of Application Value of Electroencephalography and CT in the Differential Diagnosis of Epilepsy
Objective:To compare the application value of electroencephalography and CT in the differential diagnosis of epilepsy.Method:A total of 80 patients with suspected epilepsy admitted to Jiangmen Third People's Hospital from May 2020 to May 2023 were selected as the study objects. All patients were examined by electroencephalography and multi-slice spiral CT after admission, and taking the final diagnosis result as the gold standard, the diagnostic efficiency of the two methods was compared.Result:The final diagnosis results:among 80 patients with suspected epilepsy,53 cases were positive, including 11 cases of primary epilepsy,29 cases of secondary epilepsy and 13 cases of cryptogenic epilepsy;27 cases were negative, including 9 cases of pseudoseizure,11 cases of dissociative disorders and 7 cases of non-epileptic convulsion. The accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of electroencephalography in the diagnosis of epilepsy were 88.75%,92.45%,81.48%,90.74%and 84.62%,respectively,which were higher than 67.50%,71.70%,59.26%,77.55%and 51.61%of CT,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Both electroencephalography and CT have high accuracy and specificity in the diagnosis of epilepsy, but electroencephalography is more advantageous.
