Application Progress of Pars Plana Vitrectomy in Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy
Proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR)is a complex and dangerous ocular complication caused by diabetes mellitus, often resulting in severe visual impairment. For patients with PDR,pars plana vitrectomy(PPV)is the preferred treatment method to maintain the patient's visual function and quality of life by eliminating intraocular neovascularization(NH),correcting vitreous hemorrage(VH)and preventing retinal detachment(RD).In recent years, with the continuous development and application of minimally invasive pars plana vitrectomy(MIVS),wide-angle viewing system(WAVS),digital assistance system(DAS),retinal photocoagulation and anti-vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)therapies,PPV not only significantly improves the vision of PDR patients but also achieves long-term anatomical stability.Consequently,PPV has become one of the important techniques for the effective treatment of diabetic patients. This review will provide a comprehensive overview of the application of PPV in PDR.
