Effects of Pterygium Excision Combined with Limbal Stem Cell Transplantation on Corneal Astigmatism and Visual Acuity in Patients with Pterygium
Objective:To explore the effect of pterygium excision combined with limbal stem cell transplantation on pterygium patients.Method:A total of 100 patients with pterygium treated in Zhenjiang Fourth People's Hospital from March 2020 to March 2023 were selected as the study objects, and divided into two groups according to random number table method, with 50 cases in each group. The control group was treated with pterygium excision, the observation group treated with limbal stem cell transplantation on the basis of the control group. The clinical effect, removal time, repair time of corneal epithelium, vision recovery, tear film function and complications were compared between the two groups.Result:The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, the time of suture removal and corneal epithelial repair were earlier than those of the control group, and the total incidence of complications was lower than that of the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).At 3 months after surgery, the best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),horizontal curvature of cornea and vertical curvature of cornea in observation group were higher than those in control group, corneal astigmatism was lower than that in control group, tear film rupture time(BUT)and tear secretion test(SⅠT)were longer than those in control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Pterygium excision and limbal stem cell transplantation can repair the corneal epithelium of pterygium patients, improve visual acuity, and promote tear film function with few complications.
