Effect of Bilateral Areola Approach Endoscopic Thyroidectomy on Patients with Benign Thyroid Disease
Objective:To investigate the effect of bilateral areola approach endoscopic thyroidectomy(ET)on patients with benign thyroid disease.Method:Sixty patients with benign thyroid disease admitted to the Third Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from June 2020 to May 2023 were selected. They were divided into intervention group and control group according to the lottery method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with traditional thyroidectomy and the intervention group was treated with bilateral areola approach ET.The perioperative indicators, satisfied with aesthetics at 1 month and 3 months after surgery, pain condition at 6 h,12 h,and 24 h after surgery, preoperative and postoperative inflammatory factors, and complications were compared between the two groups.Result:The surgery time, postoperative drainage time and hospital stay in the intervention group were shorter than those in the control group, and the intraoperative blood loss volume and postoperative drainage volume were less than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).At 1 month and 3 months after surgery, the numeric score system(NSS)scores in the intervention group were higher than those in the control group. At 6 h,12 h,24 h after surgery, the visual analogue scale(VAS)scores of the intervention group were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After 2 d of surgery, the levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)and interleukin-6(IL-6)were increased in both groups, and the levels of TNF-α and IL-6 in the intervention group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of postoperative complications in the intervention group was lower than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Bilateral areola approach ET has a remarkable effect in the treatment of benign thyroid diseases, which can optimize perioperative indexes, the levels of TNF-α and IL-6 in peripheral blood were low,and obtain better cosmetic results.
