Clinical Effect of Lipoic Acid Combined with Vitamin D2 in Elderly Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus with Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy
Objective:To explore the clinical effect of Lipoic Acid combined with Vitamin D2 in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with diabetic peripheral neuropathy.Method:A total of 105 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with diabetic peripheral neuropathy who treated in Shandong University Qilu Hospital(Qingdao)from March 2021 to September 2023 were selected as the study objects,they were divided into the observation group(n=53)and the control group(n=52)according to the random number table method.The control group was treated with Lipoic Acid,and the observation group was treated with Lipoic Acid combined with Vitamin D2.The clinical efficacy,serological indicators[serum homocysteine(Hcy),fasting C-peptide(FCP)],diabetic neuropathy symptom score,nerve conduction velocity[right total motor nerve conduction velocity(MNCV),sensory nerve conduction velocity(SNCV)]and adverse reactions were compared between two groups.Result:After treatment,the total effective rate of the observation group was 96.23%,which was higher than 75.00%of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Before treatment,there were no significant differences in the levels of Hcy,FCP,MNCV,SNCV and scores of burning sensation,pain,numbness and paresthesia between two groups(P>0.05);after treatment,the Hcy level and scores of burning sensation,pain,numbness and paresthesia in two groups were lower than those before treatment,the FCP level and MNCV and SNCV were higher than those before treatment,and the Hcy level and scores of burning sensation,pain,numbness and paresthesia in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,the FCP level and MNCV and SNCV were higher than those in the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).During treatment,there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:Lipoic Acid combined with Vitamin D2 is effective and safe in the treatment of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and diabetic peripheral neuropathy,it can effectively improve serological indicators and clinical symptoms,and accelerate nerve conduction velocity.
