The Efficacy and Safety of Lacosamide Combined with Sodium Valproate in the Treatment of Children with Epilepsy
Objective:To investigate the effect and safety of Lacosamide combined with Sodium Valproate in the treatment of children with epilepsy.Method:A total of 82 children with epilepsy treated in Tai'an Maternal and Child Health Hospital from September 2020 to September 2022 were selected. They were divided into control group and observation group according to random number table method,41 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Lacosamine, and the observation group was treated with Lacosamine combined with Sodium Valproate. The clinical efficacy, the improvement condition of electroencephalogram epileptic discharge, the level of microrna-222(miR-222),B-cell activating factor(BAFF),neurotransmitter, nerve injury index before treatment and 12 weeks after treatment and adverse reactions of the two groups were compared.Result:The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The total effective rate of electroencephalogram epileptic discharge improvement in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After 12 weeks of treatment, the levels of miR-222 and BAFF in both groups were decreased, and the levels of miR-222 and BAFF in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After 12 weeks of treatment, the levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT),dopamine(DA)and norepinephrine(NE)were increased in both groups, and the levels of 5-HT,DA and NE in observation group were higher than those in control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After 12 weeks of treatment, the levels of S-100β,neuron-specific enolase(NSE)and glial fiber acidic protein(GFAP)in both groups were decreased, and the levels of S-100β,NSE and GFAP in observation group were lower than those in control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in observation group was lower than that in observation group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Lacosamine combined with Sodium Valproate is effective in the treatment of children with epilepsy, can regulate neurotransmitters, reduce nerve damage, and improve electroencephalogram epileptic discharge, with less adverse reactions and better safety.
