Comparison of Effects of Intramedullary Nail Fixation and Hip Replacement in the Treatment of Elderly Patients with Intertrochanteric Fracture of Femur
Objective:To explore the effect of intramedullary nail fixation and hip replacement in elderly patients with intertrochanteric fracture of femur(IFF).Method:A total of 80 elderly patients with IFF who admitted to Liuzhi Special Zone People's Hospital from January 2022 to June 2023 were selected as the research objects,80 patients were divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method,40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with hip replacement, and the observation group was treated with intramedullary nail fixation, two groups were followed up for 6 months. The operation related indexes, pain, hip joint function and complications were compared between two groups.Result:Compared with the control group, the observation group had less intraoperative blood loss, shorter operation time, longer postoperative ambulation time and postoperative hospital stay, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05);at 1 month after treatment, the visual analogue scale(VAS)scores of two groups were lower than those before treatment, and that in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);compared with the control group, the Harris hip function scores of the observation group after 6 months of follow-up were higher, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05);the incidence of complications in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Compared with hip replacement, intramedullary nail fixation in the treatment of elderly patients with IFF can reduce intraoperative blood loss, shorten operation time, reduce postoperative pain, and improve hip function, however, postoperative recovery takes a long time and the incidence of complications is relatively high.
