Sedation Effects of Dexmedetomidine Nasal Drops Combined with Midazolam Oral Administration in Children with Autism
Objective:To investigate the sedation effects of Dexmedetomidine nasal drops combined with Midazolam oral administration in children with autism.Method:A total of 72 children diagnosed with autism who were examined by magnetic resonance imaging under sedation in the Sedation Center of Quanzhou Women's and Children's Hospital from June 2023 to March 2024 were selected as the objects of observation. The patients were divided into control group(36 cases with Dexmedetomidine nasal drops)and observation group(36 cases with Dexmedetomidine nasal drops combined with Midazolam oral administration)by random number table method.Postoperative time from medication to sleep, time from sleep to wake up,heart rate and blood oxygen saturation(SpO2)before and after medication, incidence of adverse reactions, and Steward postoperative assessment scale(Steward score)on discharge were compared between the two groups.Result:The time from medication to sleep in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),while there was no statistically significant difference in the time from sleep to wake up between the two groups(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in SpO2 and heart rate between the two groups before medication(P>0.05).After treatment,SpO2 in observation group was higher than that in control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in heart rate between the two groups after medication(P>0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 0,which was lower than 44.44%in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in Steward score between the two groups at discharge(P>0.05).Conclusion:Dexmedetomidine nasal drops combined with Midazolam oral administration have good effects of sedation on children with autism. After medication, they fall asleep quickly, their heart rate and SpO2 are stable,no agitation during the examination, low incidence of adverse reactions.
