Clinical Effect of Modified Orbicularis Oculi Muscle Folding in the Treatment of Recurrent Lower Eyelid Entropion in Elderly
Objective:To investigate the clinical effect of modified orbicularis oculi muscle folding in the treatment of recurrent lower eyelid entropion in elderly.Method:A total of 102 elderly patients with recurrent lower eyelid entropion who treated in Xiamen Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from September 2020 to September 2022 were retrospectively selected as the research objects, they were divided into the modified group(modified orbicularis oculi muscle folding,n=52)and the conventional group(conventional folding,n=50)according to different surgical methods. The clinical efficacy, ocular symptom score and ocular surface function before and after operation, and complications were compared between two groups.Result:The total effective rate of the modified group was 98.08%,which was higher than 86.00%of the conventional group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);compared with the conventional group, the modified group had lower eye symptom score, longer tear film rupture time and higher tear river height at 3 months after operation, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05);there was no significant difference in the incidence of complications between two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:Modified orbicularis oculi muscle folding can improve the clinical effect of elderly patients with recurrent lower eyelid entropion, reduce the eye symptom score, maintain the stability of tear film, and do not increase the risk of complications.
