Effects of Phacoemulsification and Intraocular Lens Implantation on the Recovery of the Ocular Surface of Elderly Patients with Cataracts after Surgery
Objective:To study the effects of phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation on the recovery of the ocular surface of elderly patients with cataracts after surgery.Method:A total of 108 cataract patients treated in the ophthalmology department of Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital from August 2022 to September 2023 were selected as research objects and divided into control group and observation group according to the proposed surgery method. The control group received small-incision cataract extraction combined with intraocular lens implantation, and the observation group received cataract phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation.Intraocular pressure(IOP),recovery time of corneal edema and bulbar conjunctival congestion, visual acuity recovery 2 months after surgery of the two groups were compared.Result:Compared with the control group, the increase of IOP in the observation group was small, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The recovery time of corneal edema and bulbar conjunctival congestion were less in the observation group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).In the observation group, the proportion of people who recovered vision greater than 0.5 was 81.48%,the proportion of people whose visual acuity recovered to 0.3~0.5 was 16.67%,and the proportion of people whose visual acuity recovered to less than 0.3 was 1.85%.The recovery ratio was 74.07%,22.22%,3.70%in the control group, respectively. The visual acuity recovery in the observation group was better than that in the control group. There was no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).Compared with the control group, the incidence of temporary intraocular hypertension, anterior chamber hemorrhage, fundus hemorrhage, keratitis, iritis and other complications in observation group was lower, and the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion:phacoemulsification intraocular lens implantation has a positive effect on ocular surface recovery in elderly cataract patients, which can shorten the recovery time and reduce complications.
