Efficacy of Self-management Program Nursing for Intestinal Dysfunction after Sphincter-sparing Surgery in Patients with Middle and Low Rectal Cancer
Objective:To evaluate the effectiveness of self-management program nursing for intestinal dysfunction after sphincter-preserving surgery in patients with middle and low rectal cancer.Method:A total of 108 patients with medium-low rectal cancer admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University from May 2019 to May 2021 were selected. They were divided into control group (n=54) and observation group (n=54).Both group were treated with sphincter-preserving surgery, the control group was given routine postoperative care, and the observation group was given self-management program nursing on the basis of the control group. The intestinal symptom self-management behavior, intestinal function, the visual analogue scale (VAS) and self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) scores were compared between the two groups before and after nursing.Result:After nursing, the total scores of social management, emotional management, perianal skin management, diet management, treatment management and the total score in both groups were increased, and the scores in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).After nursing, defecation affected by diet, frequency and urgency of defecation, paresthesia of defecation and total score were significantly increased, and the scores in the observation group were higher than those in control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).After nursing,VAS score and SAS score were significantly decreased in both groups, and VAS score and SAS score in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion:Self-management program nursing can effectively improve the self-management behavior of patients with middle and low rectal cancer after sphincter-preserving surgery, improve the intestinal function of patients, reduce the anxiety and pain of patients, and help improve the prognosis of patients.
