Application Effect of Percutaneous Vertebroplasty Combined with Zoledronic Acid in the Treatment of Osteoporotic Vertebral Compression Fractures in the Elderly
Objective:To explore the application effect of percutaneous vertebroplasty combined with Zoledronic Acid in the treatment of elderly osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures.Method:A total of 100 elderly patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures treated with percutaneous vertebroplasty in the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine Orthopedics and Traumatology of Min County Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from April 2020 to March 2023 were selected. They were randomly divided into observation group of 50 cases and comparison group of 50 cases by random number table method. The comparison group received surgical treatment combined with conventional drug treatment, while the observation group received treatment of combined with Zoledronic Acid. The clinical treatment effects, fracture healing time, and lumbar spine bone density, right femur and tibia bone density, the visual analogue scale(VAS)score, activity of daily living scale(ADL),Oswestry dysfunction index(ODI)before and after treatment,as well as the incidence of complications such as bone cement leakage, spinal cord nerve injury, and cardiopulmonary embolism were compared between the two groups.Result:After treatment, the total effective rate, lumbar spine bone density, right femur and tibia bone density, and ADL score of the observation group were higher than those of the comparison group, the fracture healing time was earlier than that of the comparison group,VAS pain score, and ODI were lower than those of the comparison group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of complications was higher in the observation group than that in the comparison group, but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion:Percutaneous vertebroplasty combined with Zoledronic Acid has a guaranteed therapeutic effect of elderly patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures,it enhances bone density, reduces pain and functional impairment, improves the daily living ability, shortens fracture healing time, and is safe and reliable.
