Research Progress on High-altitude Venous Thromboembolism
Venous thromboembolism(VTE)refers to abnormal pooling of blood in the veins, blocking the lumen and causing venous backflow.VTE can occur in systemic veins, mainly including deep venous thrombosis(DVT)and pulmonary embolism(PE).VTE has become the third leading cause of cardiovascular death after ischemic heart disease and stroke, and represents a significant burden of non-communicable diseases globally. As the altitude increases, the air pressure decreases, and the atmospheric oxygen partial pressure and alveolar oxygen partial pressure also decrease.Thrombosis formation is more complex in high altitude environment, and the incidence of VTE at high altitude increases significantly. This article reviews the pathogenesis, prevention and treatment of high altitude(HA)VTE.
