Joint Identification of New Varieties(Lines)of Cowpea during 2019-2021 Organized by China Agricultural Research System of Food Legume
The combined identification of new varieties can effectively assess their high yield, stable yield and ecological adaptability. In this study, the joint identification test of ten new common cowpea varieties(lines)in 14 test sites of the National Edible Bean Industry Technology System from 2019 to 2021 were analyzed. The results showed that the phenotypes of different ecological common cowpea differences were obvious, the variation of the number of main stem branches, the number of pods per plant and yield were obvious(average coefficient of variation was more than 20%),the variation of plant height, growth period and 100-grain weight were generally(the average coefficient of variation between 10%-20%),and the variation of seed number per pod was not obvious(the average coefficient of variation was 9.93%).Finally,four new cowpea varieties(lines)suitable for northern spring sowing area, four suitable for northern summer sowing area, and two suitable for planting in southern China had been selected.
