Salt Tolerance Evaluation of New Mung Bean Varieties at Germination Stage
Assessment of salt tolerance of mung bean varieties would be beneficial to utilization in saline lands.Zhonglü 26 and Zhonglü 27 were used as experimental materials, and Zhonglü 5 was used as a reference.Different concentrations(0.0,0.3%,0.5%,0.7%,and 0.9%)of NaCl solution were set to evaluate the tolerance of Zhonglü 5,Zhonglü 26,and Zhonglü 27 at sprout stages.Seed germination rate, germination potential, germination index, relative salt damage rate for the three varieties were recorded and calculated at different time(24,48,72,and 96 h)under salt stress. The results showed that the germination of all varieties were significantly inhibited with the increase of NaCl concentration. The germination rate at 96 h for 0.9%NaCl was Zhonglü 27>Zhonglü 26>Zhonglü 5,while the germination petential and index of Zhonglü 26 were the highest and the both indexes of Zhonglü 5 were the lowest but without significant difference. The ralative salt damage rate of Zhonglü 27(8.7%)was significantly lower than that of Zhonglü 26(12.8%)and Zhonglü 5(22.0%).Based on various indicators,it was found that the salt resistance at the germination stage was Zhonglü 27>Zhonglü 26>Zhonglü 5.
