Analysis and Evaluation of Agronomic and Economic Characteristics of Foxtail Millet in Northwest Ecological Region
Scientific analysis and evaluation of agronomic and economic characteristics related to the suitability of foxtail millet can provide more reference for the selection and breeding of new varieties. The characteristics of 23 foxtail millet varieties were determined and a comprehensive evaluation carried out by using the gray correlation degree. The results showed that the coefficient of variation of panicle weight was the highest at 29.9%,and the variation coefficient of plant height was relatively lower at 12.3%;the correlation between grain yield and panicle density, panicle weight and plant height were high. The gray correlation analysis showed that the five varieties with higher comprehensive evaluation of the 23 varieties suitable for mechanized harvesting were Chigu K6(0.774),Jinfen 121(0.749),Chigu K4(0.729),Taixuangu 28(0.721)and Longgu 23(0.692).The above five materials with high comprehensive evaluation can be used to screen and cultivate new foxtail millet varieties suitable for planting in northwest ecological region.
