Breeding and Cultivation Technology of New Tartary Buckwheat Variety Chengku No.2
Chengku No.2 is a new Tartary buckwheat cultivar,which was obtained by EMS progeny population of Chuanqiao No.3.It was selected through multi-generation plant lines breeding,lines identification,variety comparison,regional test and other methods.The Chengku No.2 cultivar is a medium-maturity cultivar with a development period of roughly 86-96 d.Its traits include compact plant type,strong seedling,and neat seedling.Its medium-sized,green leaves are halberd-shaped.The plant height of Chengku No.2 cultivar is 107-133 cm,and it has 5-8 branches,17-21 internodes of the main stem.The stem is green,and its flower color is light green,no fragrance.The inflorescence stalk is short,the seed-setting rate is high and concentrated.The grain is brown,triangular,short and the 1000-grain weight is 17-20 g.The Chengku No.2 cultivar exhibits excellent resistance,low shattering,strong adaptability,and high yield.The average yield over the course of two years was 2764.8 kg/ha,representing a 14.6%increase,in the regional test of a new variety of Tartary buckwheat in 2021 and 2022,which includes five pilots,ten test varieties,and one control species(Jiujiangkuqiao).This variety is suitable for spreading cultivation in the Tartary buckwheat growing area and similar areas in Liangshan autonomous prefecture,Sichuan Province.
