Design and application of asymmetric in-roll EMS in wide slab caster
In-roll electromagnetic stirring(EMS)is one of the core equipments of slab caster, which is mainly used to improve the equiaxed crystal rate of slab, improve the center porosity and center segregation of slab, and improve the internal quality of slab. For the slab continuous casting machine with slab width exceeding 1 800 mm,the roller end shaft fracture and bolt loosening often occur when using roller stirring, which leads to a mismatch between the service life of the roller-stirring and the normal free roll of the caster, and the equipment cannot operate continuously and stably. The asymmetric in-roll EMS technology is adopted in the wide slab caster.Through the modeling simulation and actual magnetic performance test of the asymmetric in-roll EMS roller,it is verified that this structure can meet the magnetic field performance requirements for improving the central quality of the slab.Metallurgical tests of stainless steel such as 430,0Cr13,439,409 and 2Cr13 were done by improving the sector section to adapt to the installation of asymmetric roller stirring. The test results meet the expected quality requirements of the slab center, the improvement effect of equiaxed crystal, center porosity and center segregation of the slab center is obvious. After the improvements, there is no roller end shaft fractures or bolt fractures in the equipment, and the equipment stability is greatly improved, the service life of the stirring roller and the free roller are basically the same, which meets the requirements of stable and trouble-free operation of the caster.
