Professor David D.Hall of the Harvard Divinity School is a re-nowned historian of New England Puritanism in the second half of the 20th century and early 21st century.Although his primary fields of study were social history and cultural history for most of his academic career,his works in those fields included much dis-cussion of New England Puritan politics.In recent years,Hall has even proceeded to discuss New England Puritan politics in a direct and comprehensive way.Generally speaking,Hall inherited from Perry Miller the tradition of"rehabilitating"New England Puritans,seeing them as great politicians.In the specific historical context after 2008,Hall's attitude toward New England Puritan politics experienced a nuanced transition toward enthusiastic celebration without reservation.
